Sestak's Momentum

The most recent polls are showing that Joe Sestak has pulled ahead of Arlen Specter in the Democratic Senate primary. Governor Rendell commented on KYW this morning that he's surprised at the anti-incumbent sentiment that is being reflected in the polls. I think that's only part of the story. I think the polls are also reflecting the strong anti-Specter sentiment felt by so many Democrats. Many of  us will never forget that Specter is a Republican who admits that he switched parties so he could be re-elected. As if he owns that Senate seat. As if he's irreplaceable. And we'll never forget that he supported and voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin because he thought they were a better choice than Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

But I believe the real reason behind Sestak's momentum is that the polls are beginning to pick up the voters who are just now learning about Sestak's ideas and his amazing career as a high-ranking Navy officer and as a member of Congress. And they're rejecting Specter's negative campaign that is trying to distort and falsify Sestak's record.
