How Bad Was It?

From what I've been told, apparently some of the behavior at Monday night's meeting of Narberth's Council was so inappropriate and disruptive that several people considered calling the police. Since I wasn't there and I can't get anyone to confirm identities on the record, I guess we'll just have to wait to see what Cheryl Allison, the Main Line Times reporter who was in attendance, has to say about it. I'll post more information if I receive it, and I welcome comments from anyone who was there.

I wasn't there, but I have to say that this quote from the Main Line Times left me cold:

While it may be difficult to understand, Councilwoman Nancy Lotz, who said she had just completed a contract negotiation at her work, said it’s typical that “things don’t really begin to move until the last two weeks. ... Deadlines bring people to the table.”

Well, sometimes. But you don't play chicken when one of your tenants (MELC) provides a significant community service to families, some of whom are your constituents (I am a constituent, but have no kids at MELC). There are times to play hardball and there are times not to play hardball under threat of a deadline that would trigger liquidated damages under a holdover lease. This was not one of those times.
